How far we’ve come…
Our first food waste collection route started with a local school district’s lunchroom prep waste in September of 2023. Averaging 100 lbs/week allowed us to dip our feet in the composting world and start to figure it out. Our second route, the addition of a local brick-and-mortar farmer’s market business, started in October and ramped up our activity with an additional 400+ lbs of food waste diverted and collected each week. Throughout the summer of 2024, we averaged over two tons of food waste collected weekly and have diverted just over 40 tons of material to composting to date (as of September 2024).
